The “Progressing Work-based Learning of TVET System in Thailand” project (ProWoThai) has been initiated by the Chair for International Cooperation in Education and TVET systems / UNESCO Chair on TVET and competence development for the future of work at TU Dortmund University (Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Schröder).

Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the project aims to further develop and strengthen different approaches to work-based learning in Thailand.

The “Progressing Work-based Learning of TVET System in Thailand” project (ProWoThai) seeks to develop and strengthen different approaches of work-based learning in Thailand. In the international context, the concept of “work-based learning” stands for the development of the workplace as a place of learning. Dual vocational training, which enjoys a high reputation worldwide, is identified as a key element.

The ProWoThai project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This four-year project will be carried out in collaboration with different stakeholders: university, company and education policy partners in Thailand. The project will analyze models and best practice examples based on the theoretical background of work-based learning, then develop and implement them in participative, action-oriented research.

A comprehensive comparative study on the status quo of work-based learning in Germany and Thailand will be carried out as part of the project. At the same time, work-based learning as a scientific discipline in Thailand will be promoted and reinforced as an overarching goal. The ProWoThai project will contribute to the longstanding and intensive cooperation between Germany and Thailand in the field of technical and vocational education and training.
